In 4 years: “Stima mi – Sterilisa mi” has neutered 30 thousand cats & dogs

‘Stima mi – Sterilisa mi’ is a well-known foundation in Aruba. In 2016, Bucuti & Tara launched this foundation with the goal of tackling the cat & dog overpopulation issue we face on the island in a sustainable way. With this program the neutering costs have gone down drastically for pet owners as well as for companies who tend to the animals on the streets.

As  home to many of us, it is increasingly important that we minimize the presence of animals on the streets as they usually suffer due to insufficient care. Additionally, as a tourist destination, it is important that we tackle the issue as animals suffering on the street is an eyesore to those visiting the island and can sometimes lead to dangerous situations.

Since 2016,  A.T.A. has formed a part of the project with the foundation started by Bucuti & Taral, andTPEF. A.T.A. receives a lot of complaints concerning the stray cats & dogs on the island via various channels and therefore sees the importance of tackling the issue together.

In 2020, due to the pandemic, A.T.A. as well as TPEF had to pause their foundation and opt to put their projects on hold for the time being. But starting again this year,  A.T.A. as well as TPEF has started funding the foundation once again.

Recently, they celebrated the neutering of 30,000  animals since the start of  the foundation.  A.T.A. would like to thank all those who form a part of the project and we hope to continue it with the cooperation of the public to get less animals on the streets.
