Dominican Republic idealizes closer ties with Aruba

In the two years since the consul general of the Dominican Republic has been on Aruba, the relationship with the government has been going well. During this time, many changes have been introduced.

Pedro Venture, consul general of the D.R., explained that their government’s spot is change which is exactly what they did upon arrival in Aruba. As soon as the consul arrived, a newer, more accessible and comfortable office was introduced for the Dominican community.

The priority of the consulate is to promote their country on the island. He explained that the brand of the country D.R. has it all. The idea is to introduce American and European certified Dominican products here in Aruba. He continued by mentioning that fruits and vegetables are expensive. Geographically, the D.R. is very close to Aruba and this needs to be taken advantage of. They are trying to introduce products that are very good, he mentioned.

They have held meetings to the prime minister and acting governor. They have spoken about a commission that is tasked with studying Dominican products and the introduction thereof in Aruba. He believes in a commercial and free relationship.

Concerning tourism, the consul general said that many locals travel to the country. He also stated that some locals have been awarded visas and have enjoyed the mountain sceneries. Many travel to the Constanza region, which is a mountainous region with rivers where Arubans are welcome. It is an honor for the consul when Arubans visit his country and take in the sights.
