Minister Dangui Oduber: Aruba Port Development N.V. was founded on Monday

On Monday, the Aruba Port Development N.V. was founded in the presence of the Minister of Tourism and Public Health Dangui Oduber, the director of APA NV, Marc Figaroa and chairman of the board the commissioners Dubero. Aruba Port Development N.V. (APA NV) will be in charge of the entire Port City project.

As is known, the Government of Aruba and Aruba Ports Authority (APA), recently officially launched the Port City project. This was done to develop the area where the ex-harbor and container port was located in Oranjestad. The minister announced in 2017 that work has been ongoing with APA NV to make the project possible.

The Port City is an ambitious and big project for Aruba which will lead to job creation for a period of 15 years. It will also generate income for APA and Government and create it an economic spin-off for Aruba. The project that is an investment of the private sector of 1 billion florins. The generated income will be reinvested into the infrastructure, roads, landscaping, boardwalk, public parks, and maintenance for a period of 60 years.

Minister Oduber a indicated that this is the finance model of Port City and naturally an important project such as this must be managed by a newly founded organization. Monday was a big day for Aruba on which as the company was finally founded in the presence of a Notary as well as the director of APA and the chairman of the board the commissioners.

Aruba Port Devolopment N.V. will be the company in charge of management with regards to the public tender which will commence soon. Now, development plans can be initiated and are expected to begin in the second half of 2023.
