Father fined for allowing his underaged teen to drive

Last night at around 10:00 pm, the Noord police were inspecting traffic just past the roundabout in Tanki Flip. During their inspectioThey stopped various vehicles and handed out multiple fines. Aside from that, they also had to confiscate a few vehicles that did not have their documents in order. One thing that really stood out during the routine inspection occurred when they stopped a white Toyota Yaris.

The police were met with a 16-year-old behind the wheel, while their father was seated in the passenger seat. The police gave the father a lecture, as the legal driving age is 18 on Aruba, and anyone younger should not be permitted behind the wheel.

The police informed the teen that this is against the law and seemed to understand the severity of their actions. To not have the father and child remain stranded in the streets, they were permitted to leave with their vehicle. The father received a hefty fine for his actions. The father apologized to the police and will have to pay the fine at the Public Ministry.
