A patrol aircraft of the Dutch Caribbean Regional Coast Guard detected what was likely a bundle of drugs while flying over the monitored sea region. The Zr.Ms. Holland quickly deployed its interception speed boat together with an American Coast Guard helicopter to recover the bundle of drugs. Around 5.000 kilos of drugs were recovered. The contraband was handed over to the American Coast Guard and destroyed.
Operations against drug trafficking
The Zr.Ms. Holland has been patrolling the Caribbean Region since October 2022 and offers cooperation with the American Coast Guard as well as the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard in anti-drug trafficking efforts. During the last three captures, the Zr.Ms. Holland has detected at least 1.600 kilos of drugs.
