This year, the Social Affairs Department is standing still once more to reflect on the lives of those with physical limitations on Aruba. The 2022 theme for the United Nations is “Transformative solutions for inclusive development: The role of innovation in fueling an accessible and equitable world”.
This theme focuses on developments for inclusivity. A development that includes the active participation from people with limitations.
This theme implies that the person with limitations has the potential to come up with transformative solutions for the improvement of the quality and well-being for their own lives and those of others. With this theme, the United Nations asks that we all take a moment to reflect on the role of innovation. How can our people use innovative and new ways to reach the goals aimed at improving the lives of those who are limited by creating a more accessible and fair world for those who are most vulnerable and dependent. Hereby, creating a world that is equal for all.
The Department of Social Affairs has noticed various activities that are taking place in our community to improve the quality of life for our people with limitations. A word of appreciation and our support goes out to these groups and to the Platform for Organizations for People with Limitations (PPL) who have the well-being pf Disabled people at heart. Nothing is worth more than your love for your fellow human.
A huge appreciation also goes out to the parents, siblings, as well as other family members, neighbors, and people who have provided aid and attention. Know that your love and support is crucial for the survival of your loved ones and that it cannot be replaced!
