Demands have been heard: bigger water tank coming to Alto Vista

There has been something missing in the northern view of the island, and that is the WEB tank on the mountain in Alto Vista. The water production and distribution company is continuing with its production and maintenance of the 7 water tanks on the island in an attempt to keep the water pressure at the right level at every connection. In the case of Alto Vista, the tank dates back to 1992, and after 30 years, the time has come for a replacement.

WEB Aruba N.V.’s spokesperson, Asja Dongen, provided us with some detailed information concerning the water tank’s restoration project. Construction started two weeks ago with the demolition of the existing tank. The company has gotten as far as to deconstruct the entire metal framework and now they are tackling the foundation.

The next step is to prep the land for the construction of the new foundation. The reason a whole new foundation will need to be laid is because the new tank is going to be bigger than the old one, and will therefore have different dimensions . While the old tank had 13 thousand square meters capacity, the new one will be wider and flatter, with a capacity of 18 thousand square meters. The structure for the tank is coming from abroad and once it reaches Aruba, local professionals will be in charge of setting it up.

WEB Aruba N.V. is going through an improvement period of its water distribution, which includes improving the entire tubing system all around the island. Besides renovations and the construction of a new tank, there are also 800 kilometers worth of tubing that need to be replaced as well. The entire renovation process is estimated to take around 5 years. Lastly, Dongen expressed his gratitude to WEB Aruba N.V.as well as to the residents of the construction area for their cooperation.
