Sewage water seeps into ocean

Tuesday afternoon at around 4:45 pm, people started noticing an unpleasant sight on L. G. Smith Boulevard. Here, black sewage water was leaking into the ocean. Unfortunately, this is not the first time this has happened, as sewage issues have been plaguing Playa due to the recent rainy period. Just a few days ago, sewage water was spraying into the air right in front of Royal Plaza, while three cruise ships had just docked and thousands of tourists were visiting the island. The Tourism Orientation Police (TOP) put pallets on the roads to allow the tourists to cross the road without having to step in the waste water.

In the evening hours, DOW opened the sewer and let the water drain out into the ocean in the Eagle Beach area. This time, it occurred in Playa, right in front of the Adriaan Lacle Boulevard and L. G. Smith Boulevard intersection. There were at least two to three tourists there, filming how the disgusting sewer water drained into the our beautiful blue ocean. The horrendous stench accompanied by dozens of flies were also present as our white beaches were stained brown. Various people could be seen exiting the oceans as well,

This is definitely an alarming situation, and while ATA, AHATA, APA and the tourism departments are all spending millions to promote our island, DOW and its director Marlon Croes are illustrating that they not have this situation under control. In the end, DOW falls under Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes’ control, who is currently preoccupied with busy meeting in The Netherlands. We hope that this issue gets resolved quickly.
