Carnival Village has been illuminated for Christmas

Recently, colorful lights have been set up in Carnival Village in San Nicolaas. This is just one of the many ways we are preparing our neighborhoods for the Christmas season.

Minister Ursell Arends was in charge of turning on the lights, together with a few other ministers as well as the director of DOW, Marlon Croes. Last week they did the lights in Caya, in Caya G.F. (Betico) Croes and they promised to continue illuminating areas around the island.

He expects that the lights put up in Carnival Village will ignite the spark of excitement as the year comes to an end and we get to celebrate Christmas and New Years. DOW did an excellent job of decorating Carnival Village and they suggest that everyone goes to check it out and take lots of pictures.

Arends says that these are a symbol of the light of hope that the government provides to the community to ignite the hope for improvement for our island.

Normally, the honor of turning on the lights goes to the Prime Minister, but because she is abroad, the honor went to Arends.

Further on in the evening, the Minister stated that he was informed, during a meeting with DOW, that one part of San Nicolaas was illuminated, while the other parts were not yet due to an issue with the power.

There are various projects that will start soon, and they include resolving the aforementioned issue. In the future, when the time comes to decorate San Nicolaas for Christmas once again, they will be able to do so properly and bring even more lights to the center of the neighborhood as well.
