DOW unavailable: yet another failure for Aruba’s tourism

Even though they said that the sewer water refinery installation (RWZI) would be transferred from DOW to Utilities Aruba NV in April, the public has not gotten a break from the foul sewer water that keeps plaguing our island. On the contrary, today on Easter, the entire Highrise hotel had to endure the terrible stench of sewer water that kept seeping in front of Riu Resorts and Hilton Resort.

Tourists have stated that they even smell the terrible stench when driving past in their taxis. They ask the taxi drivers if the water is sanitary. On the other hand, taxi drivers are forced to drive their vehicles through this dirty water, which leaves their cars smelling bad and therefore has detrimental effects on their income.

The police have been calling DOW all day but the calls are being declined repeatedly. This shows that DOW is unwilling to do its job on a holiday, leaving the area in complete disarray and essentially abandoning the tourists visiting our island.
