Residents of Mabon pleased that they have started cleaning the court

Not too long ago the residents of Mabon were reaching out for help with their field and court, as they were both in deplorable states. The field had not received any maintenance work in quite some time, which led to vandalism and even some fires being set off at the nearly abandoned lots.

After their relentless fighting, the place is finally getting the attention it deserves. The Bureau City Inspector has started mobilizing into the neighborhood to start cleaning the field.

Astrid Vries, activist and resident of Mabon, explained that last December she and a few other residents came forward when they saw that the situation was becoming quite alarming and that no one was doing anything about it.

Now, three months later, Vries says that she is pleased that 24ora.com decided to bring this project forward once again as it places pressure on the government to act.

Thanks to this, there is finally some movement and they have started cleaning the field. Even though they are not finished yet, Vries is thankful for the residents who dared to speak up. “If we do not speak up, who will?” She also thanked 24ora.com/TREMPAN, for giving them a voice.
