“Artopia Foundation For The Public Arts” unveils the bust of Tino Ruiz in Noord

The moment to honor our fallen Police Officer Tino Ruiz will finally arrive this Saturday. A plaza will be unveiled in his honor, it will be named after him and there will be a bust of his likeness to showcase his exemplary work and to respect his memory as the first member of the Police Force who lost his life while serving his country.

In December of 2021, a short presentation was held by the artist Gilbert Senchi, who was tasked with making the bust of the honorable Police Force member. While the renovations of the police station in Noord commenced, there was a chance to get a sneak peek of the bust in the month of September 2022.

ARTopia Foundation for the Public Arts was putting the final touches on the bust and artist Gilbert Senchi and his team were working around the clock on this project for Aruba.

The renovation project at the station in Noord was going according to schedule and this new project was sure to have a profound sentimental value for both the officers as well as Ruiz’s family.

Tino Ruiz passed away in July 2017. He was fatally attacked by a man while on the job. Ruiz’s colleague then shot and killed the attacker, who appeared to have struggled with mental issues/instability.
