Twentysix irresponsible dog owners were fined

After two months of trying to bring awareness to the community concerning the new pet rules and regulations, the time has come for the police to start holding individuals accountable for their dogs.

On Monday morning, the Aruba Police Force together with Post Aruba N.V. dealt out fines during routine inspections. The team consisted of uniformed officers, the K9 Unit, neighborhood police as well as Post Aruba N.V. personnel.

Post Aruba N.V. personnel are confronted with dangerous dogs roaming the streets on a daily basis. Together with the police, they conducted inspections around specific neighborhoods around Aruba.

Neighborhoods in San Nicolas such as: Seroe Colorado, Fortheuvelstraat, Seroe Largoweg, Juanamorto complex, De Vyust, Esso Heights, Weg Rooi Congo, Amsterdamstraat, Arnhemstraat, Castrostraat, Vorstraat, Seroe Preto, Dirskstraat, Zeewijk, Weg Rooihundo, and Weg Fontein were among those inspected.

During this inspection, they reported various infractions such as dogs loose on the public streets, dogs being neglected, aggressive dogs as well as owners walking their dogs on the street without a leash. In total, twentysix (26) people were fined for breaking the new dog laws.

The routine inspections will continue in neighborhoods all around the island so we ask that everyone take proper care of their dogs and to follow these newly set rules and regulations.

The fines are substantial and could cause a serious dent in your wallet.
