Inauguration of a free clinic for undocumented individuals

On Tuesday afternoon, a special moment took place at Xavier University. In cooperation with the International Organization for Migration, a free clinic has been inaugurated for undocumented individuals on the island. The project coordinator, Alena Samanez says that from this day forward, anyone who does not have access to general medical care in Aruba can walk in to make an appointment for a free medical checkup on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, they can pass by Doctor Rivera’s office, where the more severe or chronic cases will be treated.

This clinic is primarily for those who do not have access to general healthcare. This clinic aims to help alleviate the current situation in Aruba’s health care system. The students of Xavier University will be the ones measuring blood pressure, checking blood sugar levels, and more. This clinic will even have access to a laboratory.

They are working with various partners, such as HIAS. There is a big demand for this type of service. In just two weeks, nearly 200 patients were treated. This is a fundamental human right that everyone should have access to, regardless of their nationality or migratory status. Do not fear being assisted here, your safety and access to necessary medicine are guaranteed.
