Starting today: music will resonate in the hospital’s main hall

Recently, The Dr. Horacio Oduber Hospital (HOH) officially inaugurated its grand piano.

During its inauguration, the hospital halls were filled with spectacular melodies courtesy of the talented colleagues Tjerk Koekkoek, Olaf Vroegop who is the son of director Vroegop, and special guest Johnny Scharbaay. According to the director of HOH, Jacco Vroegop, “We believe that a piano will improve the atmosphere in our hospital which will then contribute to the wellbeing of all our patients and colleagues. Music has the remarkable ability to inspire and elevate one’s spirit, reduce anxiety, and create a calm and peaceful feeling.”
Incorporating a piano into the ambiance at HOH is a part of our mission to provide hospitality, focusing not only on our medical treatment, but also on the physical and emotional wellbeing of our patients, visitors, and colleagues. It is a simple but powerful way to make a positive impact on everyone who enters to hospital on a daily basis.

We also believe that introducing this piano into our hall will bring people together. Patients, visitors, and staff members will be able to connect and share their musical experiences in a pleasant environment. The hospital hopes to encourage those who are musically talented to play the piano and to express their creativity.

The hospital would like to thank the Dutch sponsors, Columbus Medical and MP Corporation for supporting the idea immediately. Thanks to their support, the hospital was able to make this a reality for HOH and the entire community of  Aruba! Remember, the piano belongs to all of us, so feel free to pass by HOH to let your music resonate in the halls!
