Undocumented man without a driver’s license detained in Bloemond

On 11/11, the police were active with various traffic controls around the island and in Bloemond, the police stopped a grey Honda Fit. During the check, the police noticed that the driver’s fingers were trembling. This was reason enough to continue questioning and conduct a more thorough check to understand why the driver was so nervous.

It turned out that the driver did not have a driver’s license. Additionally, as if that were not enough, it was also revealed that the individual did not have a residence permit to be on our island, making them an undocumented individual. The lack of documentation is not necessarily a crime, but it is sufficient motive for the police to take the person to the police station, from where they will be handed over to the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard will then take care of the deportation process.
