Raids on the local market continue: counterfeit Louis Vuitton bags confiscated

On Saturday afternoon, an action took place where several counterfeit products were confiscated. Representatives and lawyers from the Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Fendi companies appeared at the Local Market near CITGO Boulevard and checked every kiosk.

Although they had already spotted only one kiosk selling the brands, they were accompanied by a bailiff who had the authority to confiscate all products from the represented brands. The action was successful, confiscating items such as bags, shirts, watches, belts, and wallets.

Lawyer Mr. Wiek Herben spoke with a representative from the Headlines Group, who mentioned that it was not the first time they visited the Local Market. Every time they come, they find more counterfeit products. The act of selling fake products is getting out of hand and can have personal consequences. In this case, they found a Chinese man selling the fake products, but he rents his kiosk from Clifton Starke, who organizes the entire product sales fair. Even though he is not the one selling the counterfeit products, by allowing it, he becomes an accomplice and a bad merchant. With the court’s approval, they seized the Clifton Starke company and all the products they found at the fair on L. G. Smith Boulevard.

Clifton Starke is not an unfamiliar figure; he was recently behind bars. It is not the first time he has been involved in cases where a bailiff is involved and imposes seizures. Apparently, Starke was given a chance to leave prison by the court, but he is currently in Rehab fighting with mental health issues.

At the end of the action, several bags filled with counterfeit products were confiscated. Observing Herben’s work in the Dutch Caribbean islands, it was noted that Aruba has more sales of counterfeit brands compared to Curaçao. However, from another perspective, it can be said that the situation is alarming on the islands, even though there has been a decrease in the sale of counterfeit brands in recent years. It is a potentially dangerous situation, considering that one cannot guarantee the quality of the fabrics and does not know what materials they are made of, which could have consequences for one’s health.
