Strong winds topple over a “kwihi” tree

On Sunday at around 12:30 pm, DOW and Elmar personnel were on-site to address a situation in Babijn. Due to strong winds, a “kwihi” tree was knocked over. It is worth noting that Aruba’s Meteorological Service issued a strong wind advisory last Friday. Even small boat owners were advised.

It was necessary to close both sides of the road so that the contractor could handle the work. When the tree fell over, it pulled down power lines as well, resulting in a house being left without electricity.

While Elmar dealt with the power lines, DOW personnel cleared away the tree and made the road accessible for drivers once more.
