Former office building to be transformed into twenty-seven student apartments

For some time now, there has been noticeable development in the city center. At least in Wilhelminastraat, there is a group of local investors investing a lot of money to build, renovate, and develop buildings on the mentioned street. According to Minister Geoffrey Wever, who is in charge of the Economic Affairs portfolio, there is a vision to turn this street into a culinary center.

The official wants to see the city center at another level. In the past, the Mike Eman Cabinet invested millions in renovating the entire main street, considering its initial condition. The current government is continuing this effort, and at least Minister Wever is implementing it. Of course, he has his own plans too. Recently, he inaugurated Plaza Comercio, dedicated to two major merchants who invested a lot and built many buildings at that time.

During a recent interview with the official, he announced a new project. The announcement was made exclusively to 24ora.com, where the official chose to reveal it. It involves the building of the former Public Prosecutor’s Office and the former Central Bank on Rifstraat. Wever stated that he plans to convert the building into an apartment complex.

It will be an apartment complex specifically for students, with twenty-seven rooms. The idea is for University of Aruba students to live there. It’s just a three-minute walk from the university. The plan envisions students passing through the street in the morning, grabbing a bite or a drink at one of the cafes, creating a vibrant atmosphere in the area. Additionally, the official indicated that there are many opportunities for investment in the city center, for Airbnb, and much more.
