Marco Tromp becomes the third traffic fatality for 2024

Saturday afternoon at around 4:15 pm, a serious accident occurred on Caya Frans Figaroa, on the main road from Noord to Kamay. The accident involved a red Honda CR-V and a silver Nissan sedan.

The driver of the Nissan was trapped in the car. Police found him in critical condition. An ambulance attempted to resuscitate him, but all efforts were in vain, prompting the request for a doctor at the scene of the tragedy. At 5:00 pm, Dr. Texier pronounced Marco Marceliano Tromp, born in Aruba on June 17, 1943, dead, at the age of 80.

Witnesses stated that Marco Tromp arrived at Yen Yen Bar & Restaurant. He came to pick up his food, which he had ordered by phone. After paying his bill, he greeted and said goodbye to everyone sitting at the bar, even those he didn’t know. A while later, they heard a loud crash.

Security camera footage from the restaurant clearly shows Marco Tromp getting back into his car and attempting to merge onto the main road. However, he focused too much on oncoming traffic and not so much on traffic from the other direction towards Noord.

The images clearly show that the red Honda was driving quite fast and couldn’t avoid the collision when the Nissan car pulled onto the road in front of it. The impact was concentrated precisely on the driver’s side.

This becomes the third traffic fatality for this year. Last year, there were a total of nine traffic fatalities. Headlines Group, the publishing house of 24ora.com and Trempan, extends condolences to the family of the deceased.
