Gasoline is 34 cents more expensive compared to January

Starting on Wednesday, April 10th, there will be a change in the prices of petroleum products. This is an official announcement that has come from the relevant government department.

The report states that the Minister of Economic Affairs, Communication, and Sustainable Development is announcing the new selling prices of fuel starting April 10th, 2024:

Unleaded premium gasoline: 266.9 cents per liter (+11.3 cents)
Diesel LS: 230.1 cents per liter (-6.3 cents)
Kerosene: 210.9 cents per liter (-4.9 cents)
These prices include taxes.

This announcement signifies that, for the third time this year, the price of gasoline has increased. Only at the beginning of January was there a reduction. Since January 10th, 2024, the price was: Unleaded premium gasoline: 232.9 cents per liter (-4.8 cents). If we make a comparison, we can say that gasoline will be 34 cents more expensive starting Wednesday than it was at the beginning of the year. Diesel is nearly 17 cents more expensive than in January, and kerosene is 12 cents more expensive. This is despite their prices having decreased compared to the previous month.

A significant portion of the price of Gasoline and Diesel goes to the government in taxes. The taxes on the price of Gasoline and Diesel are very high. The government takes a large portion, and the profit margins for the gas stations themselves are minimal.

In addition to taxes, the government levies two additional charges on the price of gasoline. The BBO of 7% for FMSA’s tank and another 7% for the station’s tank of your vehicle. Apart from high excise taxes, the government earns another 14% on the selling price.

A high percentage of the total price at the pump goes straight into the government’s pockets. People can save a little by filling up their tanks on Tuesday night before midnight.
