Carpentry shop burns down in Burubundo

On Friday, just before noon, chaos erupted in Burubundo when a warehouse caught fire. Initial reports indicate that the fire started near the warehouse and due to the large amount of dry grass, it spread to the surrounding area.

The first firefighters to arrive at the scene found themselves battling not only the flames in the warehouse but also the large patches of dry grass behind it that caught fire.

Unfortunatley, the carpentry shop located in this warehouse burned down completely. The owners have lived in Aruba for almost 30 years, and it’s the first time something like this has happened to them. The wife of one of the owners even fell ill, requiring medical attention from paramedics. Surely a very distressing situation for the family, who had to watch their property burn without being able to do anything to stop it.

Some witnesses reported seeing a person passing by the carpentry workshop just before the fire.

Firefighters who were not on duty rushed to the scene to lend a hand to their colleagues.

The Fire Department did a tremendous job in preventing the fire from reaching the nearby houses.
