A week has passed and the Hoevertsz family still hasn’t found a solution after their house burned down. Today they are making an appeal because they are not only worried about themselves but more for their three young children.
On Sunday, April 28th, several firefighting units were sent to an address in Sabana Basora. Upon arrival, they found a house fully engulfed in flames. It was the home of the Hoevertsz family, who lost not only their home but all their belongings in the span of 15 minutes.
“We lost everything. I want to see who can help us. I’m not worried about myself, but I have three young children. I want to find a home. It’s been a week already that we don’t have a proper roof over our heads. It hurts me a lot to see my children like this. We’re living uncomfortably in the car because there’s no proper place,” he said.
Five people used to live in that house and now they have nothing. The father is worried and says that while they manage to get food, their problem is finding a home. They need a place to live because he has three young children who need to go to school.
He went to different apartments, but it’s difficult. Either they don’t accept children, or when there are children, the price becomes too high, and they can’t afford it. “It’s quite uncomfortable. We can’t stand this anymore, being in the car all day. It’s very urgent for us to have a roof over our heads. We don’t need money, but a roof so my children can sleep peacefully and go to school normally.”
Considering all he’s been through this week, he feels that no one wants to help them get out of the situation. “We really have nothing. We need to start completely from scratch. I’m worried for my children who are in this situation because of the fire.”
Franklin said he’s very tired, and his children are too. He hasn’t slept properly for seven days, because he is too worried about the situation. “I believe my children are also uncomfortable in this situation.”
He has money to rent something, but the problem is that everything is too expensive.
