On Saturday, April 20th, we had the privilege of witnessing the collective effort towards a mission: serving the community. Centro di Bario Lago Heights was the focal point of this endeavor. Edmentum, an American educational software company, led this initiative. On this day, 85 Edmentum volunteers, who call themselves Edmenturs, joined forces with local volunteers and construction workers to complete the construction of a basketball court, a bicycle track, a playground, murals, and planters in front of the building.
This project aims not only to uplift the Centro di Bario but also to provide recreational and sporting opportunities for the children and youth of the neighborhood. The initiation of this project began with Linda Nessim, a talented event organizer, who approached CEDE seeking to facilitate a connection with a local organization that needs or desires an educational and recreational space for children and youth in the community.
CEDE provided Linda with information on various local organizations, ultimately leading Edmentum to choose Centro di Bario Lago Heights as the beneficiary of this effort. With a vision in mind, Linda, along with the Program Leader of Centro di Bario Lago Heights, Mrs. Shalinie Flores-Rodjan, worked attentively to develop a strategy and meticulously plan the implementation of this project, identifying essential components to realize it within a short timeframe. To achieve this vision, a collective effort was required, and we extend our gratitude to the generous contributions of Edmentum, Super Food Plaza Cares Program, De Palm Tours, Aruba Convention Bureau, and Cmart Aruba.
It is through their invaluable support that this project has become a reality. "BARiO UNICO," a CEDE project launched in 2023, is designed to create connections and empower the Centro di Barionan. Our objective is to equip these centers with various resources and tools to revitalize their functions within the community.
