Court makes temporary decision: incinerator can be used to burn accumulated sludge

Early this morning, the court announced its decision on the government’s request to use the incinerator located in Parkietenbos. Last year, the court ordered that the incinerator could no longer be used as it did not have the proper permits. The grounds on which the nuisance permit was granted did not meet all legal requirements.

After finally managing to repair the incinerator, which had some damaged parts, it still could not be used (for more than seven months) due to the court’s decision.
Given the accumulation of sludge from both the incinerator and what is produced at the water purification plant in Bubali, the minister responsible went to court to request a special permit, mainly to postpone the court order, which would allow the incinerator to be used to burn the accumulated sludge.

It was understood that there were more than 8 containers of sludge, creating an unpleasant situation. Today, the court decided to agree with this request. Stay pending on this matter as it is a developing situation.
