Aruba’s U15 girls’ national team opened the FIFA Women’s Development Programme Girls U15 Invitational Tournament with a 1-0 victory over Colombia’s Formas Íntimas. Natuishka Kwidama scored the decisive goal in the first half to give Aruba a winning start to the competition.
The match kicked off at 7:15 p.m., with both teams eager to score an early goal. Aruba created a promising opportunity, but the assistant referee flagged for offside. Both teams continued to push forward in search of the breakthrough.
The decisive moment came in the 38th minute. Kaylee Vlijt, wearing the No. 10 jersey, won the ball from a Colombian player. Maduro then moved it forward, allowing Vlijt to continue the attack.
Vlijt worked her way between Formas Íntimas’ defenders before looking up and spotting Kwidama in a good position. Aruba’s No. 9 received the pass, cut slightly to her right, and struck the ball with her right foot into the corner of the net. The Colombian goalkeeper had little chance of stopping the shot.
Kwidama’s goal gave Aruba a 1-0 lead at halftime. Formas Íntimas had opportunities to equalize but failed to convert them. Matches in the tournament consist of two 40-minute halves.

Formas Íntimas came out with greater urgency after the break, intensifying its efforts to find an equalizer. The Colombian side showed more determination in attack and created several opportunities, but could not get the ball past Aruba’s goalkeeper.
At times, Formas Íntimas pressed from midfield to maintain the momentum of its attacks.
Aruba also looked to extend its lead, but its passes did not always find their intended targets. Formas Íntimas regained possession several times, limiting Aruba’s chances to threaten the goal.
Despite the increased pressure in the second half, Aruba held on to its one-goal advantage until the final whistle, securing its first win of the tournament.
Although the team defended its lead successfully, it will also need to create more attacking opportunities rather than focus primarily on defense. Allowing the opposition to apply sustained pressure could have cost Aruba points, with a draw or even a defeat a possibility.
