A group of sports administrators taking part in the “Sports Administration Course,” organized by the development department of the Aruba Olympic Committee (COA), continued the program this week with an evening session at the University of Aruba. After an initial lecture on the Olympic Movement, the course moved on to a session focused on governance and organization within sports.
The second session was led by Patrick Werleman, Director of Development at COA. The development department focuses on training, legal matters, and governance within the sports sector. In this session, attention was given to key sports organizations in Aruba, as well as the legal framework for associations and their statutes. Participants also reviewed several important articles from Book 2 of the Civil Code, which applies to sports associations and foundations.
The participating sports leaders showed strong interest and actively engaged in all group assignments, applying the material to the federations and clubs they represent. The discussions generated several valuable ideas and highlighted the group’s motivation to contribute to the development of sports in Aruba.
COA expressed its appreciation to Patrick Werleman for delivering the informative session, which provided participants with useful knowledge and practical insights. The next session will take place on Tuesday and will take a deeper look at the structure of sports organizations and related topics.
