The Oranjestad Police Department issued 100 traffic fines during a recent traffic enforcement operation on Wednesday afternoon and evening.
The checks took place at several strategic locations, including Avenida Watty Vos near the Bushiri roundabout and near A.P.A. The Motorized Unit, Traffic Department, and CEA participated in the operation, which focused primarily on speeding.
Of the 100 fines issued, 64 were for exceeding the speed limit. The remaining fines were issued for other violations, including driving without a valid driver’s license, lacking vehicle insurance, failing to pay vehicle registration tax, and not having a valid vehicle inspection card.
During the operation, one person was also arrested for not having valid residency documents.
The Aruba Police Force says traffic enforcement operations will continue and reminds drivers to ensure their vehicle documents are valid and readily available.
Drivers are urged to slow down, put their phones away, never drive after drinking, and obey traffic rules.
Remember, road safety is everyone’s responsibility.
