the Aruba PopUp Store on John E. Geermanstraat was burglarized early Tuesday morning, with the thief making off with the store’s cash register.
The break-in occurred at around 1:50 a.m. The front glass door was smashed with a brick to gain access to the store. Once inside, the thief headed directly for the cash register and removed it from the premises. It is not known whether there was any money inside.
The store’s alarm was triggered during the break-in, causing the thief to leave shortly afterward. The suspect was carrying a backpack and had their face covered with a shirt. The person was also wearing a cap and is described as light-skinned.
The break-in caused considerable damage to the store, particularly to the front door and the area around the cash register. The activation of the alarm appears to have prompted the thief to leave before taking anything else from the store.
Anyone with information about the break-in is asked to contact the police tip line at 11141.
