During a national event at the Hulp Bestuurskantoor in San Nicolas, the AVP-FUTURO Cabinet presented investment projects planned for the coming years, following the approval of the AIOF budget for 2026 and 2027. Prime Minister Mike Eman announced plans for a ‘Multifunctional Accommodation’ (MFA) in San Nicolas, along with renovation projects for the De Vuyst and Bushiri neighborhoods.
Eman said the government’s investments must improve quality of life, particularly for pensioners, low-income families and other vulnerable groups.
Eman noted that Noord, Paradera, Santa Cruz and Savaneta already have MFA buildings and reaffirmed his commitment to bringing the same facility to San Nicolas. The project forms part of a broader vision for the city and the neighborhoods south of the bridge, with the aim of providing residents with facilities that support community development and improve quality of life.
The government also plans to renovate De Vuyst, with improvements to sports facilities, recreational spaces and the neighborhood’s overall environment. Eman referred to maintenance work underway or completed in Village and Mabon and said he hopes these efforts will continue throughout the remainder of the government’s term.
Bushiri is also set to receive improvements, particularly to its recreational areas. Eman said many neighborhoods need attention, including repairs to homes and improvements to shared facilities and public spaces.
Eman highlighted previous infrastructure projects, including the Green Corridor connecting Oranjestad and San Nicolas and E.J. Watty Vos Boulevard, which links the airport to the hotel area. These roads have supported Aruba’s economic development and helped create opportunities south of the bridge.
However, he expressed concern about the deterioration of buildings, sports facilities and schools renovated during his first two terms in government. He stressed that new projects must go hand in hand with proper maintenance of existing facilities.
Eman reaffirmed his commitment to development that goes hand in hand with social well-being, with the needs of Aruba’s residents at the center of government policy.
