White Yellow Cross Aruba is celebrating 15 years of its ‘Stevig Ouderschap’ program, which provides free guidance and support to parents of newborns.
Maryla Solognier of White Yellow Cross Aruba explained that the program begins when a baby is between six and eight weeks old and can continue until the child is between 18 months and two years old.
More than 100 parents have benefited from the program so far this year. Families are identified through a questionnaire completed during visits to baby clinics. Depending on their needs, participating families receive home visits every three months.
Two nurses currently conduct these visits in Oranjestad, Dakota, and San Nicolas. White Yellow Cross Aruba aims to expand its team to reach more families.
