Wings of Hope AUA Airport Runway Run 2024: Strengthening Communities and Inspiring Future Generations

Recently, the Wings of Hope (WOH) team, a part of Aruba Airport Authority N.V., organized the second AUA Airport Runway Run on Sunday, March 17, 2024, where a total of 125 runners gave back to the community in an unforgettable way.

In the presence of all the runners and volunteers, the Wings of Hope team symbolically donated 7,500 florins to two foundations, “Trampolin pa Trabao” and “Funari”. “Trampolin pa Trabou” aims to provide job opportunities for those aged 17 and older and those with limitations by offering vocational training and matching them with local job donors to maximize their potential. Funari focuses on the social integration of individuals with physical limitations by keeping their bodies and minds active.

For the second edition of the AUA Airport Runway Run, all 125 runners completed a little over 5 kilometers, starting from Runway 11 to Runway 29 and back to Runway 11 to reach the finish line. Each runner received various AUA gadgets such as Safety Vests and a Hydration Belt Waist Bag for use during the run. To conclude the event, all runners were treated to refreshing drinks at the finish line, including coconut water featuring the new Wings of Hope logo. A total of 32 prizes were raffled among the participants, including electronics, sports equipment, health and wellness vouchers, travel vouchers, gardening vouchers, and much more.

In honor of Wings of Hope’s efforts to execute social projects with a positive impact on the Aruban community, Wings of Hope unveiled its new logo symbolizing resilience, compassion, and progress. This demonstrates a commitment to building a better future where everyone has access to food, education, and opportunities for growth in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Wings of Hope will continue to nurture communities and inspire future generations.

AAA and WoH are extremely grateful to all volunteers, runners, organizations, and other groups who participated in the second edition of the AUA Airport Runway Run, making this event a successful and unforgettable one.
