Central Bank will deposit 400 thousand florins towards FASE

“Based on the government’s petition to contribute to the fund for FASE by voluntarily cutting in the salaries of management and employees of BCA, they have decided out of solidarity to withhold a sum of Afl. 377,000 from May 2020 until November 2020. The sum that will be withheld for December 2020 will be deposited in the Government’s bank account specifically assigned for this purpose at the end of December”, is what the Central Bank of Aruba’s article said.

Central Bank issued a press release today to clarify their position related to the publications circulating about public entities that haven’t deposited anything in the Government’s bank account to pay FASE. Out of twenty-three of the Government’s entities, only seven have withheld and deposited. Of the 7 entities, SETAR deposited 2 million florins, WEB more than 1.5 million florins, and SVB more than half a million florins.

In a report published by Minister of Finance Xiomara Maduro, Central Bank has only deposited 7.600 thousand to the Government’s emergency fund FASE. This sum raised a lot of questions from the community.

After meeting with WEB and labor union SIWA, the Government said that every entity had to withhold part of their employees’ salaries in solidarity. If they have done it yes or no, she does not know but can guarantee that they all had to withhold and deposit. With the clarification from ELMAR, ATA, and now Central Bank, we could conclude that most have held back but haven’t deposited yet (after six months) in the Government’s bank account.
