Crisis Team: First Brazilian variant detected in Aruba

The crisis Team informed that RIVM identified 29 more cases of the UK variant and the first case of the Brazilian variant in Aruba.

Positive tests from Aruba are sent to the Netherlands weekly to be analyzed. Last Friday, the number of UK variants in Aruba was 21, and this week’s 29 new cases bring the total to 50.

The more tests RIVM analyzes, the bigger the chance of identifying other variants. So let’s continue being extra careful and follow the rules of social distance, use a mouth mask and wash hands frequently.

This variant is more aggressive and is more infectious, which could cause serious health problems. During this last month, there was a reduction in active cases. But if we don’t follow the rules, cases could increase again.
