Passengers who are vaccinated can travel in America without testing or quarantining

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), those who have been completely vaccinated against COVID-19 can travel in America, while still wearing a mask in planes, busses, and trains.

It is not yet clear what the impact of this new norm will be. People are already traveling and taking the decisions into their own hands. On Monday American Airlines announced that their bookings have raised by 90% compared to what they were before the pandemic. This new guideline means that “grandparents who are completely vaccinated can go visit their healthy grandchildren without having to test for COVID-19 or go into quarantine.

While still following the other recommended prevention methods” said the CDC director Rochelle Walensky. The number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise. There are an average of 62.000 cases a day. While those who are vaccinated can travel with low risk, Walensky says: “CDC does not recommend traveling at this time due to the high number of cases”.

It was expected that the number of Americans who are vaccinated would surpass 100 million today. More than 56 million Americans have been completely vaccinated, according to the CDC.

A person is considered to be completely vaccinated two weeks after having received their last dose of the vaccine against COVID-19. This allows the body a sufficient amount of time to create antibodies against the virus.

This new guideline provides another step for those who have received both of the Pfizer, BioBTech, or Moderna dosages, or the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. CDC indicates that COVID-19 tests will not be necessary before or after traveling in American. Nor will the passengers have to go into quarantine.
