Alarm for bushfire at Sero Patrishi

On Tuesday afternoon around 12:30 pm, residents of Seroe Patrishi alerted emergency services about a bushfire. The fire had started a few meters from a snack truck on the side of a road.

Police arrived within minutes and started shovelling sand on the fire in an attempt to douse it. A while later, firefighters arrived to combat the fire. Police stayed in the area to make sure the fire department could do their job without obstruction. In the past, people have threatened to throw rocks and bottles at the fire truck and the firefighters.

Quick action on behalf of the fire department prevented any material damage. The cause of the fire remains unknown although dry grass in the area was noticed. Lately, the fire department has been assisting with similar calls about bushfires around the island.
