Raynar Herrera and Kayleen Petrochi are the first athletes to participate in the “Ami Tambe Ta Campeon” Project

Words of congratulations go out to the Aruba Paralympic Committee (APC) team as well as to the IBiSA Aruba team for their collaboration in the “Ami tambe ta campeon!” (I am also a champion) project.

This project stimulates schools for children with limitations to participate in school sports. This time a competition took place in the week of 16-20 January 2023. It is inspiring to see the enthusiasm these children have to be participating in sports and the schools are also wonderful in encouraging them to participate. In relation to this project, the two athletes Raynar Herrera from Colegio Nigel Matthew and Kayleen Petrochi from Scol Soeur Juliette are the first to compete and form a part of this experience.

Kayleen is the first athlete to compete in a wheelchair and this will surely be something to applaud. Hopefully, it inspired all other students in wheelchairs to participate in sports as well. This sports wheelchair will be available for all wheelchair-bound children to use. With the support of the Marlou van Rhijn foundation, APC was able to get this wheelchair for more children to use on the island.
