Aruba is preparing for the World Paso Fino Championship

Over the weekend, the Aruban Horseman Organization (OCA) held its first fair of 2024 to prepare for the 2024 Confepaso World Championship scheduled for July this year in Puerto Rico.

Tom Pietersz, recently elected as the president of OCA, shared that this is their first fair of 2024 and it marks the beginning of preparations for the World Paso Fino Championship. This event was not merely a competition but rather part of the preparation process for Aruba’s selection to compete in the Paso Fino World Event, which occurs every two years.

Among the twenty-three participants in the weekend competition were those gearing up for the world competition. This allowed them to showcase their readiness. Recognizing the significance of this preparatory event, an international judge, Maria Consuelo Villamizar, alongside local judge Juan Zuleta, evaluated the progress of the preparations.

While there’s a preliminary selection, there will be another fair followed by the final selection of the team that will represent Aruba in the world championship. Pietersz recalled Aruba’s past achievements, having won gold medals on multiple occasions. “Aruba has a good reputation in the competition. We hope our athletes are well-prepared and come back with medals.”
