Aruba stands out in the Interinsular competitions in Bonaire

Recently, the Interinsular Games 2024 took place on our sister island of Bonaire, where this time competitions were held in Aquathlon for 11-13-year-olds, elementary school basketball, and secondary school football.

Regarding these events, our island’s delegation must say that Aruba was well-represented in all three disciplines.

Aquathlon:

In the Aquathlon sport, Aruban athletes achieved outstanding results. In the girls’ 11-13 age group, Kaythlin Thiel took first place, followed by Ryzilaine Richardson in second place. Jira Oleana and Kidagakash Galea also performed well, finishing in fourth and fifth place, respectively.

In the girls’ category 2 running, Kaythlin Thiel finished sixth, followed by Ryzilaine Richardson, Jira Oleana, and Kidagakash Galea, who finished fourth, third, and first, respectively.

In category 3, Aruban athletes also demonstrated their athletic level, with Emma Gobert taking first place, Evie Adele second, Chloe-Nicole Dirksz sixth, and Laura Bonnevalle tenth.

In the boys’ category 2 running, Lucas Bonnevalle finished third, Jeandrick Albertus seventh, Maeyson Kock eighth, and Geyon Eights tenth.

In running, Maeyson Kock finished first, Lucas Bonnevalle third, Jeandrick Albertus fourth, and Geyon Eights eighth.

In the boys’ category 3, Aruban athletes also excelled, with Xyon Jabos taking first place, Max Dennert second, Enzo Croes third, and Fredde van Poel sixth.

The MVP for boys was Xyon Jacobs, while the MVP for girls went to Emma Gobert and Kidagakash Galea.

Basketball:

In the Interinsular basketball games, Aruba demonstrated a high level of play and dominated until the tournament’s final.

Against Curaçao, Aruba played well and won with a final score of 9-5. The next game was against Bonaire, where Aruba also dominated and secured a victory with a score of 15-8, thus advancing to the grand final.

In the final game, once again Aruba faced Bonaire and clinched the Interinsular Games championship title with a score of 15-8.

The MVP in basketball was Danoe Gumbs.

Football:

In the women’s football games, Aruba prepared well to defend its championship title, which it won in 2023 in Aruba.

In the first game, Aruba dominated against Curaçao and won with a score of 13-3. In the second game against Bonaire, Aruba won with a score of 12-3, securing a place in the grand final.

In the final game, Aruba defeated Bonaire with a score of 12-3, thus claiming the Interinsular Games championship title for the second consecutive year, also remaining undefeated for the second consecutive year. The MVP for women’s football for the second consecutive year was Loredana Neppi.

The next Interinsular Games will take place in Curaçao from April 11th to 14th, 2024, and will feature competitions in high school basketball, elementary school volleyball, and athletics.
