The first group of dads for the year 2024 has completed “Best Dad Ever”

‘Why isn’t there something like this for women? I feel there should be a project like this for women too. I am so impressed by what my partner has gained during ‘Best Dad Ever’: A couple, where a dad participated in Best Dad Ever, gives their opinion at the end of the project.

‘After the second session of Best Dad Ever ended, I saw a positive change in his relationship and interaction with our child. And he came to it himself, not because of me’: Another couple, where a dad participated in Best Dad Ever, gives their opinion at the end of the project.

From March 5th to March 21st, the first group of dads for the year 2024 participated in the Best Dad Ever project and beame certified. Best Dad Ever is a project consisting of 7 sessions where dads and future dads work on their skills to be a better dad than they already are. Best Dad Ever encourages the participation of men in the education of their children. Dads receive tips, information, and knowledge on how they can be more involved in their child’s life.

A study conducted in Aruba in 2012 showed that the relationship between fathers and children in Aruba is weak. This led Fundacion Telefon pa Hubentud Aruba to conduct a more in-depth study in 2016 to get a better understanding of what fathers think of their role in their children’s education. One of the results of the study is that fathers want to be more involved in their children’s education. Because of this, Fundacion Telefon pa Hubentud Aruba created Best Dad Ever in 2016 and started implementing Best Dad Ever in 2017.

Some topics covered in the sessions include: the impact of a father, family planning, caregiving, violence, etc. Some partners who also had a role during some of the sessions include Family Planning and midwife Michael Quandt.

Best Dad Ever is made possible thanks to the support of Setar N.V, Aruba Airport Authority N.V., and The Salamander Group.
