Police receive thirty-two new vehicles

Today was a special day for the Police Force with a total of thirty-two new cars being delivered. These new police vehicles will be on the streets starting today. They made the delivery a symbolic moment with their retired colleagues who handed over the keys to the new generation of police officers, the young colleagues present.

“This is a very respectful moment today because these retirees are the ones who came before us and are the shoulders we stand on, we are very grateful to them,” said Ramon Arnhem, Chief of the Police Force.

ONCE A COP, ALWAYS A COP
The group of retirees also handed over the new cars with the symbolic message: ‘Once a cop, always a cop’, a very beautiful moment indeed. Pedro Krozendijk, affectionately known as ‘Shon Pe’, is a former police officer with various roles, such as police spokesperson and police instructor for ten years.

Krozendijk is one of the invited persons to symbolically hand over the keys. “I felt very good; I would have missed it because I wanted to take a ride in the car, it’s definitely an honor.” Krozendijk says that when honoring people in this world when they are alive, it’s something to appreciate. “When you’re in your coffin, then they say what a good cop you were and what a good person you were, but then I am not able to appreciate it. I definitely appreciate this and I believe my other retired colleagues do too because all of us who are retired feel it’s an honor to symbolically hand over the keys of the police car to the young police officers and the new generation.”

The Commissioner mentioned that Krozendijk was one who received the keys to the Mitsubishi car and today is handing over a Ford to another officer, and the feeling is very beautiful according to Krozendijk. “When they called me, they said I was the first cop they contacted. I did not do this for publicity. The publicity I had every year for the work I’ve done in the community is so great that I don’t need more. But as a human being, surely, it helps,” Krozendijk said.

Shon Pe continues to say that seeing how Arnhem carries out his work in the community is impressive; he finds it good that these three years are ending for him to get an extension and possibly stay longer. “Because a person who integrates so beautifully into our community, you have to see the positive side of it. As a cop, he has a strong arm, and you saw this in Arnhem when he climbed Hooiberg with the disabled persons earlier this week.”
