Group of homeless addicts causing trouble at the courthouse

Nowadays, drug use has become something normal, with more addicts roaming the city center, even with police on guard. The police do everything they can to act when something happens, but unfortunately, they cannot work preventively because they are understaffed.

These images illustrate how the situation is in one area of Playa. Right where you least expect it, addicts gather in groups and smoke drugs on the courthouse property. This behavior is like a direct challenge to the Aruba justice system. The situation is out of control.

From these images, you can get an idea of how the situation of homeless addicts (referred to as “chollers”) is in Playa. Many of them then go on to break into local businesses in Playa.
