The story has changed: man wasn’t in an accident but was stabbed during an argument

The wounded man who was found bleeding profusely turned out not to be involved in a scooter accident, as he initially claimed. This case is much more serious, as the investigation is now in the hands of the Public Ministry. It involves severe abuse that could have resulted in his death.

Official police information states that on Sunday, at 3:45 in the morning, a patrol from the Noord area was dispatched to Imeldahof, where some individuals had seen a man bleeding profusely and in need of medical attention.

A journalist informed the patrol at the scene that the injured man had been placed in an Isuzu pickup truck and left the scene. The patrol immediately traced the most likely route to the hospital and managed to intercept the vehicle, an Isuzu D-Max, in the Bubali area.

The police found the man bleeding heavily. He also had bruises on his forehead, and various minor wounds on his head and hands. There was also a wound on his upper right arm, on the right side, and above his eyebrow. The white shirt he was wearing was soaked in blood. He had a t-shirt and a belt tied around his upper right arm, probably to stop the bleeding.

The man, identified as Z., initially claimed to have had an accident with a friend on a scooter near Imeldahof. The friend left him behind. It was the man in the pickup truck who offered to transport him to the hospital.

It was observed that he was nervous and filled with fear. He didn’t want to talk much either. Later, a witness call reported seeing how the man, Z., was stabbed with an object.

Since the injured man’s story didn’t match what had happened, it was decided to return to the scene to conduct the necessary investigations because it didn’t appear that he was involved in an accident. No scooter was found at the scene.

Later, it was decided to talk to the injured man again. According to his statement, he argued with a group of people near the Mexican food truck, around Lekker. The argument escalated, and they attacked him with a sharp glass object. He ran towards the bus stop near Imeldahof to seek help. He didn’t know the people involved.

Forensic Bureau personnel arrived at the scene and conducted investigations, as did the North District Detectives.
