Intoxicated tourists flash and assault police officers

On Thursday night at around 10:30 pm, a police officer encountered a car driving recklessly on the road. He ordered the driver of the blue Toyota Yaris to stop, and upon further inspection, he discovered five intoxicated women inside.

Despite the fact that their vehicle had the local “A-number” license plate, these women were all tourists on a night out. Things quickly escalated as they got into a heated conversation with the law enforcer, who then had to call for backup. Reinforcements arrived at the site between the Marriott and Ritz Carlton Hotel.

They wanted to attend to the driver first, but the police officers didn’t even get a chance because the other friends  inside the vehicle started insulting them in a derogatory manner. The other occupants were removed from the car and two of the women were arrested. One of the remaining three started to act disrespectful as well and was also apprehended. When they were about to put the third person in the police vehicle, the other two began to confront the officers, kicking officers in their faces while one got up and lifted her blouse, flashing her breasts to the police.

This deplorable behavior indicates that they were likely under the influence of either drugs or alcohol. The three detainees were taken to the police station in Shaba to appear before a prosecutor. There it would be decided if they were to remain detained or whether to send them back to their hotel/Airbnb.

Another matter of concern is the fact that they were driving a car with an A-number. This could either indicate that a car rental company is operating illegally to avoid paying taxes or that their Airbnb property includes a car for their stay (also illegal). This is definitely worth looking into. The Traffic Department will likely be imposing fines on those who are circumventing our laws and evading taxes.
