ABO Foundation celebrates success of Make Aruba Pink 2026

by Nicole

Throughout October, Aruba turned pink in support of breast cancer awareness. Buildings were illuminated in pink, thousands of ribbons were made and shared, and businesses, schools, government institutions and community organizations joined forces to support the campaign.

With Make Aruba Pink 2026 now concluded, ABO Foundation is celebrating a month marked by solidarity, community participation and meaningful conversations about breast cancer screening.

The campaign’s results reflect the islandwide support:

  • More than 150,000 people reached through media coverage and campaign activities.
  • More than 100 organizations and partners joined the movement.
  • More than 10,000 pink ribbons made and distributed across Aruba.
  • More than 45 buildings illuminated in pink.
  • More than 50 community activities organized, including appearances by the Queen’s Throne, workplace initiatives and educational sessions.
  • More than 1,000 appointments scheduled through ABO Foundation’s BOB screening program during October, resulting in 712 mammograms.

Behind each of these figures is a community that came together in support of an important cause.

More than just turning Aruba pink

This year’s campaign focused on one simple but powerful message: “I feel fine, but I still get my mammogram.”

Through its BOB breast cancer screening program, ABO Foundation encourages all women between the ages of 45 and 75 who meet the eligibility criteria to undergo regular mammography screening, even when they feel completely healthy.

“Make Aruba Pink was never just about turning our island pink. It was about reminding women to take action for their health. It is moving to see how many people, businesses, schools and organizations came together to share this message. Every pink ribbon, every pink light and every conversation helped us reach one more person. ABO is deeply grateful and proud of what Aruba has achieved together,” said Jennifer de Robles, marketing manager, ABO Foundation.

October has ended, but screening continues

Although Breast Cancer Awareness Month has come to an end, ABO Foundation’s work continues throughout the year. The foundation encourages all eligible women to schedule their mammograms and invites businesses, schools and organizations to arrange educational presentations at any time during the year.

Preparations for Make Aruba Pink 2027 are already underway. Organizations interested in participating are invited to join the initiative.

ABO Foundation also extends its heartfelt gratitude to all partners, volunteers, employees and community members who helped make the campaign possible.

Aruba did more than “turn pink.” The campaign served as a reminder of what can be achieved when the community stands together.
