Teachers in Aruba have until October 31 to register for a karaoke competition organized by fellow teacher David Simon. The event will take place on November 7 at the Noord community center (Centro di Bario Noord) and is open to teachers of all singing levels.
Seven participants have registered so far, and Simon is encouraging more teachers to take part.
Simon said the idea came from his desire to organize something special for Aruba’s teaching community. Following Teacher’s Day celebrations in October, he wanted to create an opportunity for teachers from different schools to get together, share their talents, and enjoy an evening outside their usual work routine.
Two categories and prizes
The competition will have two categories: Category A for experienced singers and Category B for beginners. First-, second-, and third-place prizes will be awarded in each category.
The school represented by the winning participant will also receive a special prize, Simon said.
Participation is free. Teachers who wish to compete must complete an online registration form providing their first and last names, the school where they work, and the title of the song they intend to perform. The form is available at https://forms.gle/dfGGiNQrtWcPAY36A.

The public is also invited
The competition will begin at 7:00 p.m. on November 7th at Centro di Bario Noord. The public is invited to attend and support the participants.
Simon said the initiative aims to bring teachers from different schools together in a relaxed atmosphere where they can showcase their talents and enjoy an evening with colleagues. He hopes more teachers will register to perform and that family members and friends will come out to cheer them on.
