Olympic coach visits Aruba to help elevate artistic gymnastics

On Friday, the Artistic Gymnastics Camp commenced under the direction of international Olympic coach Yin Alvarez and the Aruban Gymnastics Federation. Milly Bagheri, president of the federation, mentioned that they are very pleased to have attracted an Olympic coach who has managed to bring seven athletes to the Olympics. He is well-known worldwide and is a coach who spends his time giving camps and training teams from different countries. The FGA contacted him last month, and to their surprise, he revealed that he had a week available to come to Aruba.

“We naturally took advantage of this opportunity because we hope to have him next year as well, as his schedule is full, but we managed to bring him this year. We have arranged for him to call all our clubs to bring their best athletes so that we can continue to advance their level together with their coaches.”

Yin Alvarez, as a coach, has achieved excellent results worldwide with Olympic medals for several athletes and has introduced several athletes to the American national youth and adult teams. His athletes have participated in the Pan American Games and have also helped many athletes in many countries around the world. Nicole Hoevertsz, Secretary-General of the Aruban Olympic Committee, emphasizes that the FGA is conducting various activities in different ways and angles to ensure that the sport is strengthened so that athletes can expose themselves to international experts. “In this way, they learn new things, and that is good for Aruba, for them, for the clubs, and ultimately, certainly for the Aruban Olympic Committee,” Hoevertsz comments.

In every way, the FGA tries to elevate the level of gymnastics in Aruba, both for the athletes and the coaches. Coach Alvarez is available to continue guiding them. He speaks virtually to conduct evaluations of Aruban athletes, thus staying in touch with the federation despite being far away. “Today, with everything we can do virtually, it is very good to have an international coach guiding you even though he is not physically present,” according to Bagheri. The athletes will be engaged in this camp until next week.
