DOW with inventory on where still needs illumination

Wednesday, the Government met with DTI, Elmar, DOW, DIP, DNM, and Kadaster to discuss the streets’ illumination. The Prime Minister pointed out that she noticed that there isn’t a specific plan to eliminate the darkness in the streets nor the neighborhoods. The night brings some concerns and risks, especially in traffic and social security. Therefore it is essential to have good lighting on our streets.

Elmar and DTI will work on a plan and DNM to ensure that nature is considered when adding more lights to different areas.

The Prime Minister emphasized that a lot more lights are needed in the neighborhoods.

Since taking over the ministry of infrastructure, there have been many requests for better lighting.

“An inventory will be made of all the places that need illumination the most and although there isn’t a lot of funds, must concentrate on the areas where it is most necessary to guarantee traffic and social safety. Although we are still in the middle of the pandemic, slowly but surely, I make sure to attend to what hasn’t received any attention for years. Thanks to the experts of our departments and Governmental institutes, we will make Aruba a safer place”, Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes finalized saying.
