Minister Glenbert Croes was operated on yesterday

It is not the first time that the representative responsible for managing the social affairs and labor of our island has undergone an operation. He has been having an ongoing battle with his own skin for years, which entails that every few years he has to have it surgically removed to prevent this benign burden become malignant.

Over the years Glenbert Croes has undergone medical intervention in other lands as well, in search of a second opinion. However, for the past few years, he has been under the care of dr. Charlene Oduber, who specializes in dermatology. She has been the one guiding and advising him how to combat this struggle, which he is experiencing on various parts of his body. The operation that took place yesterday was concerning the affected area on his face.

In the meantime, the minister is unfit to work and is therefore on leave. There is a replacement who will continue the daily tasks as necessary. This would not be the first time that the minister has to stay home for medical reasons considering he was also out of office due to a member of his team contracting COVID-19.

It is important to note that Aruba’s most common ailments are those concerning the skin, especially cases that could develop into cancer if left untreated. It is likely that this is due to the constant sun exposure the residents on Aruba experience all year round. And that many expose themselves to the sun’s harmful rays without any form of precaution. The majority of people only apply sunscreen when going to the beach, but not in their everyday lives while going to work.

It has been noted for quite a while that minister Glenbert Croes regularly wears hats or caps and also that he wears multiple layers of clothing when he is out on the streets. These are all ways he protects his delicate skin against the sun.

We wish minister Glenbert Croes a speedy recovery.
