Accidents involving drunk drivers have become a daily occurrence, and today was no exception.
Police arrived at an accident at Van Walbeekstraat where a driver hit another car and went inside their home. He did not even want to exit his home to talk to the Forensys on the site. It was understood that the house the driver entered was their own home. All of this occurred at approximately 2:30 pm in the Main Street area right behind the police station.
Upon arrival, it was confirmed that there was significant damage done to the car, but that the damage did not line up with the story the police had been told beforehand. The other car involved in this incident did not undergo as much damage. It was soon discovered that the vehicle with significant damage was involved in another accident, namely a hit-and-run that took place in Windstraat. According to the residents of the area, the man had quite a bit to drink.
The driver in question hit another vehicle and abandoned the site. The police reported all the information, however, the man was not detained.
